Quick Retro Decorated Tin

I love a quick and easy craft project using repurposed items.   You may remember when I spend the day crafting with my friend, J. and we turned repurposed  packaging into containers for gift giving.  J. and I had lots of fun using Mod Podge to upcycle some repurposed containers into pretty and frugal gift-giving-worthy containers.

Upcycled Retro Tin

While we were waiting for the craft paint to dry on some of the other projects, we decided to use the Mod Podge on a cute metal container that J. had brought with her.

We cut a piece of decorative paper out to fit the top of the tin lid.  We used the Mod Podge Brush Applicator to apply the Glitter Mod Podge.

The top coat of Glitter Mod Podge added a fun sparkle to the otherwise simple paper.  I’m charmed by the retro feel to this tin.    It would be a sweet little gift filled with candies (pun intended).

This retro tin took maybe 25 minutes to make (and that’s with 20 minutes of drying time).  I’m on the look out for more retro metal tins like this because I want to make a bunch more of these cool tins.  They can be used for organizing small items or for gift giving.  Your choice.

Jinx buy me a Coke! I was thinking the same thing… this would be perfect for an Altoid tin.

Susan – You knocked it out of the park as usual. I need to start doing more with Modge Podge… I have some and never seem to use it very often. Thanks for the inspiration.

      Hugs, holly
