Ever since my teen daughters started shopping at Urban Outfitters, I’ve been fascinated by the bags.
The bags have this great texture to them (that just doesn’t show up in photos). And the graphics are simple, just the way I like them. You can tell how wrinkled the cream colored bag is that I’ve holding onto it for a while trying to figure out what to do with it. Then last month, the purple bag came home and motivated me to figure out a great repurposing for these 2 bags. About this time, we went on vacation and I had to use plastic shopping bags to cover our shoes when packing out suitcases. I kept thinking how much I’d like to have cloth shoe bags, but there’s no way I was going buy a bag that’s only purpose is to contain dirt.
So, hmm…. How about turning these into shoe bags for a future vacation.
Step one – cut off the handles and cut the bag in half vertically.
Step two – sew up the open vertical seam.
Step three – insert shoes, sit back and smile.
Super easy. Super quick. Super hip (that’s me!). Super satisfying.

Each time I share my obsession with repurposing my trash into crafts, I become just a bit less embarrassed about it (and it now embarrasses me that I’m not embarrassed any more). Remember when I upcycled the clementine crate with comic book pages? My son and I had so much fun with that diy project that we kept going. Fortunately, I had the perfect metal can to repurpose. In about 15 minutes (plus 20 minutes drying time) we created a super cool upcycled comic book can perfect for…

I found this clearance long-sleeve t-shirt in the boys section for $.97. Really! I wear anywhere from a women’s size 4 to size 8 (don’t you hate that clothes sizes are not standardized?!). This XL boys tee made a not-too-tightly-fitting skirt for me. I had seen a great tutorial on Make It &…
