I’m a busy woman. I have three children, an active duty husband, my own business, a dog and a leopard gecko, oh and life. I don’t have the time or energy for complicated. Although I’m busy, I still want the best for myself and my family. Being busy just means that I need to find ways to make things easier to do and fit into my schedule. I’ve found some simple skin care routine tips that make it possible for me to take the best possible care of my skin every day, no matter how busy.

I know it’s important to take care of my skin (especially since I grew up in Hawai’i with lots and lots of sun exposure) and of myself, so that’s the motivation that led me to find these simple skin care routine tips that work for me. But I’ve also found that these tips save me time, frustration and money. By organizing my skin care products, I can quickly find the items I need each morning and each evening. Being able to easily find the items I’m looking for saves me the frustration of tumbling through my cabinets or drawers when I’m in a rush. And keeping my skin care products organized means I know exactly what I have and don’t purchase unnecessary duplicates just because I can’t find products I already have but are hidden in the back of my cabinet.

Simple Skin Care Routine Tips

1. Find products that care for your skin without being complicated to use.   There are plenty of skin care products available that involve many steps and involve extra time waiting for the product to work.  I don’t have time for complicated skin care routines. I look for products that are simple to use and give me the most skin care impact with the least complication.

I can complete my morning skin care routine and take great care of my skin in just a few minutes. CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser removes dirt, oil and makeup while replenishing my skin with ceramides.  CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion moisturizes while providing broad spectrum sun protection. CeraVe Sunscreen Face Lotion with SPF 50 provides lightweight, broad spectrum sun protection combined with vital ceramides for your face. So in just three simple steps, I am able to clean and provide great sun protection for my skin, all while replace ceramides in each step.

My nighttime skin care routine needs to be quick and easy, too, because I’m absolutely exhausted at the end of my busy day. To be honest, if it’s not quick and easy, I’ll fall into bed without taking care of my skin at night, so it’s a good thing my evening skin care routine is just two effective steps.  CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser removes the day’s dirt, oil and makeup while ceramides and hyaluronic acid moisturize, soften and help to repair my skin. I love the thick and creamy CeraVe Moisturizing Creme, which moisturizes and helps restore my skin with vital ceramides.

2. Identify day skin care products and evening skin care products.  Use washi tape or a permanent marker to identify products that you use in the morning versus those you use in the evening. I’m all about simple steps that will save me time and this helps me when I’m distracted on a busy morning trying to get everyone ready and out the door. It also helps me on those late nights when I can barely keep my eyes open, let alone wash my face.

3. Keep your skin care products corralled in a container.  Place your skin care products in a container or tray that will keep all your products in once place. You can even make your own washi tape DIY decorated tray (I’ll show you how in just a minute) to match your decor. Having all your products in one spot will save you time and frustration in searching  to find the products you need on a busy morning or an exhausted evening.

4. Place your skin care routine container where it’s easy to access.  Place the organizing container where it’s easy to access. I place my simple skin care routine organization tray on my counter top, but you can also place it in your cabinet or linen closet if that works better for you. Just make sure it’s in the front of the cabinet or closet where it’s easy to reach and use.

Organizing is the key to a simple skin care routine and it can also easily be coordinated to your personal style and decor. This DIY washi tape decorated tray tutorial will help you get organized and it only takes about 15 minutes to make.

Supplies

Wood or Plastic Tray – You can find these at a dollar store or at the thrift store

Washi Tape – 2 or 3 coordinating colors

2 rolls of washi tape and pair of scissors inside of wood tray on white wood table

I wanted my stripes to run on the diagonal. I found it easiest to place the first strip of washi tape from corner to corner in the middle of the tray and then work each side out from the center strip. Run the edge of the washi tape up the side of the tray so you can trim it exactly to fit your tray in the next step.
