Confession time. I don’t drink coffee. I don’t drink tea. I don’t understand the obsession with fancy coffee places or any of their fancy drinks. Gasp. I know, I know. For some of you fancy-drink drinkers, you need to breathe deeply for a moment.
Even though I’m not a fancy-drink kinda girl, I thought my family would have fun trying the Caramel Matchaccino from Red Leaf Tea (I do have 2 teen-aged daughters, after all, and they do like the fancy-drink places). And even this simple girl is willing to try a new drink, just because it’s something new.
What is Matchaccino? It’s a special green tea powder mix made to be as easy and convenient to use as possible and it is 100% natural.
You simply put a tablespoon of the mix, 6-8 ounces of milk and some ice into a blender. That’s already much easier than driving to a fancy-drink place, waiting in line, ordering some crazy-long-named drink and then waiting for them to make it.
In less than a minute, we had a Caramel Matchacinno green tea frappe. And at only about $1 per serving, it’s a quarter the cost of the same drink at that fancy-drink store.
We drank it as a cold drink because it was 70 degrees in December!, but you can also make it as a hot latte, if you prefer. 3 of the 5 of us in my family liked the drink. And I was surprised to find that I really liked this fancy drink. The caramel flavor was perfect for a holiday or winter drink. Having lived in many places where it’s hot (or at least not cold) in the winter, I’d say that it makes the perfect winter drink, with a “winter” flavor but is refreshingly cold. I can honestly say that this is one fancy drink that I would enjoy having again.
