I remember that this time of year just dragged by when I was in college. I know it’s certainly dragging by for me with my “baby” in her first year of college (I am so-oooo ready for her to be home for spring break!). The terrible cold and snowy weather has been making time seem to drag by even more slowly. So what’s a mama to do? Make her “baby” a college care package, of course. With 4 girls sharing a room, I figured it’s a splendid time to send a care package for women as a surprise for all of them (and earn some mom points, too).
I considered lots of different themes for care packages. I think it’s this mama’s coping mechanism to spend way too much lots of time contemplating just the right thing to send. As I was thinking about what my daughter would appreciate, I remembered what it was like to share a dorm room with 3 other women. Let’s be honest here – it can be challenging. One of the big challenges is that roommates “borrow” your things without asking. I’ve lived with other women both in college and in the military and one of the most commonly taken items is feminine hygiene products. That can be extremely aggravating when you open that box (for a critical reason) and it’s empty.
Right then I decided that I’d create a girl-themed care package for my daughter and her 3 roommates.

I also made 4 DIY feminine cases to go in the care package. That way they can have something pretty to carry the necessities in when they’re running to class, sports and activities.
I included some pretty razors, cotton swabs and lotion. What woman doesn’t appreciate pretty personal care items?
And of course, I had to add some fun treats. If you look in the party favor section of the store, you can find some really fun treats like bubble rings, candy necklaces and a bucket of gum balls (that are almost too pretty to eat).
I think I did pretty well putting together just what a roomful of girls need and will enjoy. Of course, I’ll add a big, giant container of homemade cookies to the care package box!
Did I miss anything in this college care package for women? What should I add to the next care package I send?
I’m a mom of 3, a veteran, military spouse. I’ve moved into 20+ homes all around the world. My passion is helping busy people make the space and time for what’s really important to them. Learn more about Organized 31 and me.
What a great suggestion! And the pink theme is perfect!
Love the care package!
I would add a couple of gift cards to their favorite coffee shop in the basket too so they can get a cup of love on the way to class!
This is really touching. You are a great Mom.
I love the little cases you made. I need to make some for my daughter.
Care packages were one of the things that I loved the most when in college, especially during the really difficult first year of being away from home. This looks like one I would have loved to receive. – Katy
That care package is perfect. That is exactly what I think a teen girl or a young woman would want.
I love this idea! What a sweet and thoughtful care package with all the necessities.
These Care Package are so cool .. its quite evident a lot of thought went into them. Yes , every girl likes “pretty” feminine products

What a great idea for a care package. My daughter loved receiving care packages!
College care packages are the best! I know early Spring was rough… it was still so dark and wet here in OR. I bet this brightens your daughter’s day.
I will be keeping this idea in the back of my head. My daughter will be starting college in the fall and I know I will be feeling like you! One bonus her campus is literally 15 minutes from my house 🙂
I’m so jealous, Kelli. But even 15 minutes is farther than I would like.
Lots of good ideas. Very useful and handy
I never had to live in a dorm, but I did share an apartment throughout college. I wish you had been my mom during those years! #client
Janet, if you go back to college, I promise I’ll send you a care package.

What a fun, yet functional care package! I love all the pink!
This is such a cute care package. It would be great for guys too besides the Tampax.
Great care package ideas! Thanks!
I love the combination of practical items and fun treats. Going to have to remember these ideas when my daughter heads off to college. Any chance you’ll be posting some ideas for men? I’m going to need those very soon!
This is such a SMART idea! I would have loved to receive this gift!
This is a great college care package.
Thanks, Victoria. I hope my daughter and her roommates enjoy it.
I sent a small package recently that had an “encouragement” card, a pkg. of 2 nice emery boards, “Udder Cream” (Dollar Tree) and an AOS lip balm. She loved it!!
What a perfect gift of encouragement, especially with the cooler weather upon us. Thanks for sharing this idea, Peggy!
