I recently had the chance to read Confessions of a Wonder Woman Wannabe by Jenny Lee Sulpizio.
I was amused and intrigued by the title (maybe it hits a little too close to home? anyone else?) I found Jenny’s writing style makes for a fun and easy read. I don’t know about you, but these days I need my books to be easy to read. Easy to read in a 2 minute window of time. Easy to read while sitting waiting at a kid activity. Easy to read in a couple of minutes before I crash for the night. If you’re at the same point in your reading life, then this is the book for you.
In Confessions of a Wonder Woman Wannabe, Jenny Lee Sulpizio offers no judgement, just lots of chuckles, smiles and practical advice. As the mother of 3, and a self-proclaimed Wonder Woman Wannabe, Jenny is right here with us in figuring this mom thing out.
She starts with her 3 Basic Rules of Motherhood:
1. Expect the unexpected
2. A little patience, please
3. Be there or be square – which is my favorite because it reminds me that being with my children is much more important than all the rest of …everything. Of course, we have responsibilities as moms that have to be take care of. But I need to remember not to be so busy with the responsibilities that I loose sight of the who and the why of motherhood.
Jenny dives right into loads of practical advice shared with an eye on the humorous parts of a mom’s life. Jenny covers such important tips as:
Cuckoo Prevention Kits: Emergency Must-Haves for Your Car (which you’ll find in her chapter, Rollin’ in My 5.0 Minivan ha, Jenny gets my love-hate relationship with my minivan)
Peeing in Peace:Unlocking the Secret (every mommy’s wish)
Jesus Take the Wheel -This Girl’s Outta Control (a reminder that we don’t walk this mommy road alone, but need to remember to walk it with the Lord)
A List of Age Appropriate Chores for Children (not only can mom’s use the help, but it’s an important aspect of teaching our children responsibility)
And there are many more practical tips that every mom can use. Even the most organized, experienced mom can use a little reminding once in a while. The icing on the cake is that while Jenny is sharing these great tips, she’s also tickling your funny bone with her way of looking at mommy-life.
Confessions of a Wonder Woman Wannabe would be the perfect gift for any mom. You can pick it up at Amazon (affiliate link) Barnes and Noble , Leafwood, Mardel’s , Parable and Christian Book Distributors .
