DIY Cake Plate Stand

What is it about cake stands that are so charming? I find them so adorable. Every last one of them is adorable. As much as I am in love with cake stands, there are times when I need an inexpensive cake plate that I don’t have to worry about being damaged at a party. I solved my cake stand dilemma by making this DIY Cake Plate Stand for just $2 and in less than three minutes. Really.

This cake plate stand is perfect for entertaining. It also makes a great hostess gift. You can arrive with a lovely cake plate stand filled with treats and then leave the cake stand as a gift. It also makes a wonderful Christmas or holiday gift. This DIY cake plate stand is so easy to make that you could make 15 – 20 in an hour to give as gifts

DIY Cake Plate Stand

One quick trip to your nearest dollar store is all you need.  

Supplies

clear candlestick holder, tube of glue and clear plate with snowman image

Remove any stickers and labels from the plate and candle stick holder. Wash and dry the them both well. 

Use a ruler to find the center of the plate. 

Add a generous bead of glue around the top of the candle stick holder.

Place the candle stick holder in the center of the plate and press well. Once the glue is set, turn the plate over and place a weight on top of the plate. Allow the glue to last as per the directions on the glue.

Add your favorite holiday cookies, treats or cake to the cake plate stand for festive entertaining.

  2. I couldn’t follow the link to the adhesive, but I think this is a great idea! These are so affordable that you could put them together for centerpieces at a function where you need to decorate multiple tables on a tight budget:) Should have thought of that for #NERCPO 2016!

  3. I simply love how creative you are with simple things..I will definately use the cookie idea. That is clever. I have used the same candlestick holder with a round vase and placed marbles around the neck of it and filled with candy or fake poinsettias….Pretty..

    1. I found it as the dollar store, Judy. That was several years ago, but they usually have a variety of Christmas designs this time of year.
