I enjoy laughing and so I appreciate a good harmless prank (even when I’m the one pranked). But I don’t like mean-spirited or destructive pranks. At my first assignment in the military working on the night shift, we set up some great harmless pranks. I still chuckle about a couple of them. But let’s be honest, I’m a busy mom and don’t have time to set up elaborate pranks any more. This year I’ll be celebrating April first and pranking my family (shhh, don’t tell them) with an easy April Fools’ Day Prank idea that is harmless and you can set up in just minutes.
I had no idea that the April Fools’ Day tradition of playing practical jokes on others on April first has been around for hundreds of years. I guess I’m not the only one who appreciates a good prank. But let me stress again, I only enjoy harmless practical jokes.
Over the years I’ve surprised my family with various April Fools’ Day pranks. Last year I surprised them with April Fools’ Day Prank Brownies and they were a big hit with my family. A couple of years ago I pranked my family with a harmless April Fools’ Day Prank first thing in the morning. Those early morning pranks are some of my favorite. People are a little less suspicious first thing in the morning and I think it’s fun to start April 1st off with a good harmless prank.

Supplies
Toothpaste Tube – You’ll want a toothpaste tube that’s almost empty or a travel-sized tube so that you don’t waste much toothpaste.
Tube of Icing – Use a color of frosting similar to the color of the toothpaste.
Use can use suction to pull some icing into the toothpaste tube. If that doesn’t work, then use a toothpick to insert icing into the toothpaste tube. You don’t have to fill the tube, just add enough that it will cover the toothbrush bristles.
That’s it. Put the toothpaste tube back and wait for a sleepy family member or roommate to stumble in to brush their teeth. Hee hee. Nothing like a mouthful of sugar when you’re expecting minty toothpaste. Bleck.
And it’s a harmless prank. No teeth were harmed in the making of this prank.
Do you celebrate April Fools’ Day? Are you a fan of practical jokes? This year you can celebrate with this harmless and easy April Fools’ Day Prank. Have fun.

I’m a mom of 3, a veteran and military spouse. I’ve moved into 20+ homes all around the world. My passion is helping busy people make the space and time for what’s really important to them.
I love this idea, Susan. I remember switching my grandfathers toothpaste for his hair cream. This was many, many years ago. He was not happy, but it was funny. I think he played along with us kids. Love this prank
Thanks, Cynthia. I’ll have to remember your prank for next year. Your poor grandfather (but I would have been giggling around the corner). 🙂

I’m so happy to hear that! Thanks for sharing and for celebrating such a fun holiday.
