This time of year means fall entertaining. Yea!  There are so many occasions in the fall to get together with friends and family and have fun entertaining. One of our favorite reasons is to watch football and cheer our favorite football team (that can beat your football team with one hand tied behind our backs!) together each week. Whatever the occasion, my easy Cheesy Bread is always requested and that’s just fine with me because it really is embarrassingly easy to make. Since this Cheesy Bread is out of this world, I’m thrilled it’s so easy to make.

We are one busy family, as I’m sure your family. I don’t have time for complicated recipes that require hard-to-find ingredients, but I still want my family and guests to enjoy themselves. I want to be proud of the dishes I serve, even if they are easy and that’s why my easy Cheesy Bread is one of my favorite go-to recipes for entertaining.

On one of my busy errand running trips, I popped by Walmart to pick up….something and made sure I also grabbed a couple of bags of cheese. I found the Kraft Natural Shreds and Natural Chunk cheese in the refrigerated section. I like that I can choose fat free and 2% milk versions of my favorite cheese, while keeping the must-have cheesy taste.
If you’re able to, drop by Walmart on September 26th so you can check out the game time demo they’ll be having then for more ideas.

Easy Cheesy Bread

Ingredients

Large loaf of crusty sour dough bread

block of cheese in package on top of light blue bowl next to cheese grater

2 bags of shredded Cheddar or Monteray Jack cheese – I chose to mix one bag of shredded with one bag of crumbles to give different textures to the melted cheese. You can also use Kraft Natural Chunk Cheese and grate it and crumble it yourself.

1/2 cup melted butter or margarine

Using a sharp bread knife, cut the loaf of bread in one inch slices one direction; turn the loaf 90 degrees and slice the loaf again so that you end up with one inch chunks of bread. You need to leave just the very bottom of the crust barely connected so that your chunks of bread will hold together (but be sure to cut far enough through the crust that it won’t be too difficult to remove the chunks of bread when you serve it).  Place the cut loaf on a baking pan. Pour the melted butter in between all the chunks of bread. Sprinkle the shredded and crumbled cheese in between all sides of each chunk of bread, making sure the cheese is in between each edge of each chunk of bread.

Cover the bread loosely with foil. Bake in a  350F oven for 15 minutes; remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes or until the cheese has melted completely.

I use a cake plate and tongs for serving. Be sure to add tongs or you’ll find your guests have to use their hands to hold the loaf steady while they serve themselves chunks of cheesy bread (not what a mom or hostess wants to have her guests do).

Adding a simple football-themed table cloth makes a big impact on your serving table (and it’s almost as easy as making the Cheesy Bread).

Finger food sweet & sour meat balls, like these from Wondermom Wannabe, are the perfect accompaniment to Cheesy Bread.

My family loves spicy food and lots of sweets, but I’ve found that many of my guests have dietary limitations. Providing fresh vegetables, dip and Cheesy Bread gives them alternatives to the spicy dishes and the desserts. Oh, and my own family with their spicy and dessert loving palates, absolutely adores my Cheesy Bread, so it appeals to everyone.
