Last week I shared the 3 easy ways to make your organizing match your style that I demonstrated at the Baltimore IKEA last week. Today I want to show you another even easier demo that I shared at IKEA.
The projects I shared last week were for myself, my oldest and my youngest and matched our personal tastes and styles. Today I want to show you the project I made for my youngest daughter. It all started with the IKEA SKURAR Plant Pot. It’s so pretty all by itself.
I wanted to demo how easy it is to personalize this lovely pot to match your own personality and style. My daughter will use this SKURAR pot to organize her hair brush and combs. You can use glue dots and a coordinating piece of ribbon or embellishment to decorate the plant pot. This took about 2 minutes and used items I already had at home.
For those of you who like gold or polka dots, I used a paper punch to punch circles out of gold vinyl. Again, in about 2 minutes and using supplies I already had, I added an entirely different look to the same pot.
Each of these demos are temporary. They’re easy to add and easy to remove. I used the same pot to show all 3 looks, so it would be easy to change they style as often as you want. For my daughter who like black and white polka dots, I added a band of washi tape. This took about 1 minutes and I did go out and buy the tape, but it costs pennies for this project.
What I like about these 3 options is that for pennies (or free if you use supplies you already have) you can change the look of your organizing tools as often as you like. My daughter was very pleased that I was able to personalize this cute pot to her current favorite style and look. (good job, mom!)
Which style option is your favorite?
In addition to being thrilled to be sharing organizing ideas at the Baltimore IKEA last Saturday, I was thrilled to be able to hang out with and learn from 3 other local bloggers: Amy Renea from A Nest for All Seasons, Amy Latta from One Artsy Mama and Jeanie from Create & Babble. You can meet each of them here in this video that Amy Renea put together (thank you, Amy!).

Hi Susan – I love the simplicity and personalization of these! Sometimes it seems like DIY is going overboard and I love how the simple touches are PERFECT! Hugs, Holly
