This is such a magical memory making time of year.  As a military family, we don’t have the family Christmas traditions that span time, like going every single year for lunch with Santa at the same place and then to cut down a tree at the same tree farm.  Sometimes we only spend one Christmas in a location before we move.  We don’t have time to develop on-going location-based traditions.  So, to make Christmas special in our own ever-moving way, we like to explore different Christmas celebrations each new place we move.  This year we’re looking forward to spending family time at Busch Gardens Christmas Town.

We had planned on going the Friday after Thanksgiving when my oldest “baby” was home from college.  This mama wanted to make new Christmastime memories while the whole family was together.  Unfortunately, the weather didn’t get my memo, so we’ve had to reschedule.  But I’m busy planning for next week, when my “baby” is home again (can you hear the joy in my voice?) for an entire month!

Busch Gardens decorates the entire park for Christmas.  Actually, they transform the entire park for Christmas.  There are lights and holiday decorations everywhere.  How magical would an entire park full of Christmas lights be?!

There are also Christmas shows and activities.  When we went to Busch Gardens Williamsburg last summer, we had so much fun at the shows.  That’s saying something, since there are 5 of us ranging from a tween boy to teen girls to a sappy mama and a skeptical dad.  We all thoroughly enjoyed the shows we saw.  I can’t wait to see the Christmas shows filled with holiday music. Oh, and there are roller coasters and rides, too!

Here are some of the things I want to do when we’re there:

See the Deck the Halls Show with singing, dancing and Frosty the Snowman.  You can sit and eat lunch, dinner or a snack while you watch the show.

See the Scrooge No More! Show.  It’s a musical version of the classic A Christmas Carol.

See the O Tannenbaum Light Show.  Find a spot around the 50-foot Christmas tree where you can drink hot cocoa while you watch the lights.

See the penguins at Ice Palace: A Penguin Paradise.  You can see penguins in an ice-themed habitat and learn more about penguins from the Busch Gardens animal experts.

Ride the rides.  The exciting Busch Garden rides are a must.  There are even rides for younger children to enjoy.

You can learn more about all the festivities at the Busch Gardens Williamsburg website on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
