One of the best parts about fall, and about fall fashion, is layering. When it’s cooler, outfits can be more complex, and therefore more fun to put together.
This outfit is perfect for those iffy, in-between-summer-and-fall days. I started with a summery base of a peachy ruffle tank (Urban Outfitters) and comfy high waist chambray shorts (American Apparel). Underneath the shorts are a pair of lace netted tights (Charlotte Russe) to ward off that morning chill. I also added a basic khaki jacket (from Ann Taylor- yay for my mom’s hand-me-downs!) on top. To dress this up a little, I added the suede chestnut wedge boots (Target) and some gold heart jewelry (earrings- Urban Outfitters, bangle- Nordstrom). I topped off the otherwise neutral outfit with this rust colored hair piece. It’s a ribbon belt from an old shirt that I wrapped around a messy bun, tucking the loose ends in.

I am in love with overalls, and jumped at these black ones from Forever 21. They’re a classier twist on the trend and will be easy to dress up or down. My weather is still warm, so I chose a sleeveless button-up top from H&M. To make the outfit more fall appropriate I threw on this denim and leather jacket and black heeled moto boots (both from Forever 21). The jacket and boots also add an edge to the outfit to contrast the childish overall silhouette and girly flower print.
When the weather gets colder, I’ll add a pair of tights. Black ones will create a monochrome, streamlined look, or I may play around with some that are patterned.

I love both of these looks. I really like the lace netted tights. Great looks for fall. I will share this with me daughter who loves to dress like this on the weekend. Week days, she is busy looking like a professional working woman!

Layering is so important in fall because the mornings are so cool but the days warm up. Great looks.

E&S – I love seeing these looks and seeing how different your styles are but also very trendy, stylish, and appropriate.
E – This outfit is so sweet, especially with the stockings and hairband. S – This outfit is a little edgier but still a lot of fun.
I’ve been wearing my ankle boots too… one of these days it will be time to break out the “real” boots when the cold weather finally hits. Have a great week in school, do your homework, and continue being the elegant young ladies that you are.
