While the juxtaposition of girly with edgy is no longer a very new concept, it can now be trusted as tried and true. A tougher element, such as leather, can help balance out a girly piece (florals are the epitome of girly). Mixing the two styles can help an outfit from looking too “toddler-easter-dress” or too “only-black-nail-polish-and-heavy-metal.”
One of my favorite combinations is a floral pattern with leather. It’s just the right amount of cute and edgy. Today I am wearing my camel leather jacket (Wet Seal), denim bustier (H&M), black floral skirt (Wet Seal) and my staple brown wedges (Target).
I avoid girly outfits in the fall and winter time, though I love a girly dress in the summer. My black leather jacket (H&M) and moto boots (Forever 21) help toughen up my feminine summer dresses, like this one from a friend. My puka shell necklace is from Hawaii.
