When I shared my Superhero Coaster with you {here}, I told you that my friend, Nancy at Do Small Things with Love, has inspired me with her projects. And here’s another one that can trace it’s inspiration roots back to Nancy.
Recently she shared her Felt Cow Notebook Hugger {here}. I made one that night (I’ll share it with you soon). It was easy and fun to make so I decided to make my own flower book hugger. (Interestingly, a day or 2 later, Nancy had a felt flower project on her blog. Great minds think alike)
I used 2 colors of felt that I already had and cut flower shapes freehand style in gradually larger sizes.
I stacked the flower shapes on top of each other and hand stitched them together.
For the petals, I cut triangles from green felt, folded the base in half and sewed them to the back of the flower.
I hand-sewed the flower to the elastic, and in less than an hour I had 2 lovely book huggers.
Who do you know that loves to read and would love a felt flower book hugger bookmark?
I’m a mom of 3, a veteran, military spouse. I’ve moved into 20+ homes all around the world. My passion is helping busy people make the space and time for what’s really important to them. Learn more about Organized 31 and me.
Both of my daughters have danced hula. My oldest is going to a hula competition this summer. She dances both traditional hula and modern hula. It’s a big deal and costs big bucks! The halau (hula school or group) is doing lots and lots of fund raisers. I thought it would be nice…
Whenever I’m out shopping, I’m always on the look out for small gifts for the kids for upcoming holidays. At the after-school-started school supplies sales, I found these metal pencil boxes for only $.88 each. I quickly grabbed 3 of them knowing I could turn them into a diy decorated box perfect for Valentine’s Day gifts…
Put old magazines to use making these simple magazine flowers. A great project for children or beginning crafters.

So cute and easy!! I’m not sure if my freehand flowers would turn out as pretty as yours, but I’m willing to give it a try. If not, there’s always patterns! Thanks for the great idea!

I am a crafter and love to read and for some reason, I have always had a fascination for bookmarks. These flowers are simple enough to make and I can use leftover pieces of felt.

That’s amazing you were able to cut flowers free hand, I could never do that! Your bookmark turned out really cute.
Thanks, Brenda. Just practice cutting on paper first and when you get a flower you like then use that as a pattern.

I’m a big fan of crafts that use up leftover bits, too, Martha 🙂 Have fun making your bookmark.
