When I shared my Superhero Coaster with you {here}, I told you that my friend, Nancy at Do Small Things with Love, has inspired me with her projects. And here’s another one that can trace it’s inspiration roots back to Nancy.
Recently she shared her Felt Cow Notebook Hugger {here}. I made one that night (I’ll share it with you soon). It was easy and fun to make so I decided to make my own flower book hugger. (Interestingly, a day or 2 later, Nancy had a felt flower project on her blog. Great minds think alike)
I used 2 colors of felt that I already had and cut flower shapes freehand style in gradually larger sizes.
I stacked the flower shapes on top of each other and hand stitched them together.
For the petals, I cut triangles from green felt, folded the base in half and sewed them to the back of the flower.
I hand-sewed the flower to the elastic, and in less than an hour I had 2 lovely book huggers.
Who do you know that loves to read and would love a felt flower book hugger bookmark?

I spend a lot of time sitting at my children’s practices, activities and appointments. I know I’m not the only one. I have to do something while I’m waiting or with 3 kids and all their appointments, I’d be loosing too much of my life just waiting. I usually take a crochet project to…

I have friends that collect trash, cast-offs and junk and then give it to me to repurpose. I know I’m not the only one with such good friends. (Thanks to other bloggers I know this.) Every time it happens I’m equally giddy that they thought of me and embarrassed that when they thought,”Who should I…

So cute and easy!! I’m not sure if my freehand flowers would turn out as pretty as yours, but I’m willing to give it a try. If not, there’s always patterns! Thanks for the great idea!

I am a crafter and love to read and for some reason, I have always had a fascination for bookmarks. These flowers are simple enough to make and I can use leftover pieces of felt.

That’s amazing you were able to cut flowers free hand, I could never do that! Your bookmark turned out really cute.
Thanks, Brenda. Just practice cutting on paper first and when you get a flower you like then use that as a pattern.

I’m a big fan of crafts that use up leftover bits, too, Martha 🙂 Have fun making your bookmark.
