When I shared my Superhero Coaster with you {here}, I told you that my friend, Nancy at Do Small Things with Love, has inspired me with her projects.  And here’s another one that can trace it’s inspiration roots back to Nancy.

Recently she shared her Felt Cow Notebook Hugger {here}.  I made one that night (I’ll share it with you soon).  It was easy and fun to make so I decided to make my own flower book hugger.  (Interestingly, a day or 2 later, Nancy had a felt flower project on her blog.  Great minds think alike)

I used 2 colors of felt that I already had and cut flower shapes freehand style in gradually larger sizes.
red and pink felt flowers.

I stacked the flower shapes on top of each other and  hand stitched them together.

For the petals, I cut triangles from green felt, folded the base in half and sewed them to the back of the flower.

I hand-sewed the flower to the elastic, and in less than an hour I had 2 lovely book huggers.

  13. That’s amazing you were able to cut flowers free hand, I could never do that! Your bookmark turned out really cute.

    1. Thanks, Brenda. Just practice cutting on paper first and when you get a flower you like then use that as a pattern.

  14. I am a crafter and love to read and for some reason, I have always had a fascination for bookmarks. These flowers are simple enough to make and I can use leftover pieces of felt.
