Hopefully you can tell that I’ve been working on Growing My Blog, but if you need a little refresher, it all started {here}.
So, we’re on week 7 of the 12 week course process project chore adventure endeavor. It’s been all of those things at different times, but endeavor sums it up best, because I’m very pleased with all the improvements I’ve made so far and proud of all that I’ve learned. Standing a little taller with one hand on my hip.
Each week we tackle a new topic and new assignments. I feel like the 2nd and 3rd weeks, which covered branding and blog design, really helped me focus on who I am in the blogosphere and where I want to go. Thinking about what makes my blog unique and then finding a way to communicate that was the “ah ha” moment for me. Before that I was kind of treading water (maybe even floundering), but now I feel focused and know where I want to go.
As I was floundering treading water, I had been thinking about starting a series for military families moving to the D.C. area. I didn’t know where I wanted to go with it or how to get started. It was just an idea. Thanks to Amy’s shove guidance, I proudly started the series 2 weeks ago {here}. I’ve received great feedback on it and even have my first guest contributor next week as a result (I met her through this Blogger Mentoring Project and she’s giving insider info on Silver Spring, MD).
Sitting here, I was just reviewing the goals I have set for myself in working through this Blog Mentoring Project and realized I’ve completed all 3 of my short-term goals and 2 out of 3 of my mid-range goals! Woo hoo! Next goal to tackle is one that will be tough for me – gaining a sponsor. I’m am not a salesperson at all. AT ALL!. Fortunately, advertising and sponsorship are two of the upcoming topics, so I’m really hoping to crack the code and gain my first sponsor in the next month or two.
I’m beyond thrilled with the great tips and mentoring Amy has provided. She has hit everything I’ve wanted to know and plenty of things I didn’t know that I wanted to know and am now glad that I do (makes sense if you say it out loud). I really appreciate the structure and accountability that both Amy and the rest of the group provide. It’s the benefit of having a walking buddy at 6:30 in the morning. Without the buddy, I just roll right over and go back to sleep. The Blog Mentoring group motivates me to do what I want to do, what I need to do, what I should do, plus is there for support and a cheering section. Now if only they’d come go walking with me every morning!
I cant’ wait to see the growth and improvement the next 5 weeks continue to bring. It’s pretty exciting. Thanks for growing with me!
