What is it about creepy Halloween food that makes it so much fun? And what is it about making food look like eyeballs that makes it even more fun? I don’t know, but I’m all in for making Halloween eyeball brownies for this year’s neighborhood Halloween party because they’re so very easy to make, are tasty and are always a big hit with the guests.

Our neighborhood holds a block party every Halloween. We all get together and enjoy a pot luck dinner then the kiddos head out to trick or treat. I like to bring quirky Halloween dishes to the party (when else can I make wacky body part food and have people think it’s a great thing?). Last year, I brought these Halloween eyeball brownies and they were a big hit with kids of all ages at the party. I’m planning on bringing them again since I probably won’t yet be up for a complicated dish due to my recent surgery.

These eyeball brownies are so easy to make that you can whip them up Halloween afternoon from store-bought ingredients.  You can make these fresh even on those years when Halloween falls on a school/work day and you’re busy trying to get the kids into their costumes, make a party dish and get ready for trick or treaters in just a couple of hours.

Ingredients

Brownie mix and ingredients listed on the box

Red icing in can or tube with a nozzle

Candy eyeballs (you can find them at most craft stores)

Make the brownie mix according to the directions on the box. Fill a lightly greased muffin pan. Cook approximately 20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Use icing to attach candy eyeballs and add red veins to make the eyes look bloodshot and a bit creepier.

Have fun walking into your party with a plate full of Halloween eyeball brownies (giving a creepy cackle as you place the plate on the table adds to the mood.) Have a wonderful Halloween with family and friends.

    1. Thanks, Cynthia. I don’t know why I find eyeball brownies charming, but somehow I do. (Don’t tell anyone, but I sampled one… or two… and they are delicious.)

  2. How fun! I just love brownies and this is a perfect halloween treat. What is it about eyeballs that are so creepy?
