With myself and 2 teen daughters with long hair in our house, you can imagine that organizing hair appliances and accessories is not an easy task.  I’ve tried all kinds of solutions, but  I think I’ve just found the perfect solution to organize our hair appliances and accessories neatly and it’s super easy to do.

We actually have 3 hair dryers, 2 curling irons and 2 straighteners in addition to numerous head bands and hair bands located throughout our house.  The items in the picture are just the ones kept in my bathroom cabinet. Since I have the preferred  hair dryer, curling iron and straightener, my daughters are always using them.  That means that the appliances are not always put away as neatly as I would like (can you hear me gritting my teeth?).

When I received the Nite Ize Gear Tie Assortment, the first thing I noticed was that they’re Made in the USA!

The Gear Tie Assortment contained a mix of different sizes of gear ties.   They’re made of a bendable wire interior with a durable, soft rubber exterior.  They’re water-proof and extremely durable.  I love that they’ll hold up through repeated use.  Oh, and did I mention that they’re Made in the USA!?

I thought about using them to organize the inexplicably multiplying collection of extension cords we have in our garage.  That would have been the obvious use.  But I decided to be selfish and keep them for myself.  I grabbed the mess of hair appliances and accessories that are kept under my bathroom sink.  Within 2 minutes (max), I had that big ol’ mess all nicely organized.

I find it much neater to fold the appliance cords in a figure 8 and wrap the Gear Tie around the middle.  For the hair dryer, I find it easiest to wrap the cord around the handle and nozzle and use the large Gear Tie to hold the cord in place.  The Gear Ties are flexible enough for me to easily wrap the cords up and strong enough to hold the cords neatly together.  The small Gear Tie worked perfectly to hold my hair bands together and the medium one held my head bands nicely organized together.

My friend, J., was over at my house crafting with me when I tried the Gear Ties out and she was just as impressed as I am with how beautifully (can I say that about a Gear Tie?) they organized the mess of hair appliances and accessories. I placed all my nicely organized hair appliances and accessories into my repurposed basket and happily placed it back into my bathroom cabinet.  I can’t tell you how giddy I am now every time I open that cabinet door and all my hair appliances and accessories are still so nicely organized.  Yes, they’ve remained nicely organized, so I think I’ve finally found my solution.

  1. What a great idea! I hate all of the long cords that go with the curling irons, hair dryers, etc. They are always bunched up and tangled together! Just as soon as you try to pull out one item, they all come out! Love the way you organized these!

  2. Hi Susan – I love this idea! My hair is finally long enough to use my appliances again and wow are they unruly! Thanks for sharing. Hugs, Holly
