How does one create superhero coasters?  Good question!

A couple of weeks ago Nancy over at Do Small Things with Love, shared some Crazy Coasters that she made from felt.  Quickly a good natured competition developed with my friend, Amy over at One Artsy Mama.

a variety of colors of felt.

Well, Amy whipped up some bright, fun, happy coasters in less than 10 minutes (or so it seemed).  I was much slower in getting moving.  I had planned on going to the store and buying the perfect color combinations of felt, but….. a couple of days later I decided to simply use had I had in the house.        .

red, white, blue, yellow, and black circular coasters, one with a white mug on top.
comic book, superhero-inspired coasters, and white mug.
Bleh.  This was it.  I was decided to go ahead and use what I already had no matter how uninspiring  the color choices. I used a small bowl as the pattern for the largest circle and then just cut the other circles freehand. Next time I’ll find other smaller circles to trace so that the smaller circles are more symmetrical.

Following Nancy’s directions, the coasters were quick and easy to whip up (my favorite kind of craft project!).

I was a little unsettled by my coasters.  Nancy and Amy had set the bar pretty high with their beautiful versions.   I was dissatisfied with mine, until I realized that I had created the perfect coasters for…… a superhero.

If superheroes used coasters, these would be them.

See what I mean?  Now I’m very pleased with my humble superhero coasters.  I’ll be expecting Superman or Captain America to drop by for coffee any day now.
