November is Military Appreciation Month. Please take the time to thank a veteran and military family this month. This is also the perfect time for military families to review their dental care coverage before the start of the new year. Military families are eligible to enroll in the MetLife TRICARE Dental Program and enrollment is easy to do.
With everything going on in the world and all that is asked of our military members and their families, I believe it’s important that we all remember to thank them for their service. Since November is Military Appreciation Month, it’s the perfect time to go out of your way to thank a veteran. Make an effort to thank at least one veteran and a military family every day. They don’t expect to be thanked, but let me tell you as the daughter of a Vietnam veteran, they certainly do appreciate when someone takes the time to express appreciation.
My father is a veteran as is my brother, 2 uncles, 3 cousins and myself, while my husband is still on active duty. I have seen first-hand my family’s many different veteran experiences through different wars, in different parts of the country and different eras. Veterans don’t expect to be thanked and will be slightly embarrassed by it, but I believe strongly that we as a nation have a responsibility to always remember our military members, veterans and their families. There are many ways to show your appreciation please find an organization or way for you to support our military members, families and veterans.
Military Appreciation Month is also a great time for military families to review their dental care coverage. Military sponsors can enroll themselves (if they are a member of the National Guard or Reserves), their spouses and children in the MetLife TRICARE Dental Program. Their dedicated military service entitles them to recive this dental care benefit. To enroll, sponsors should visit the Beneficiary Enrollment website. They can also visit the MetLife TRICARE Dental Plan website for additional information.
Eligible military members and their families qualify for two cleanings and two exams per year at no cost, when seen by a network dentist. Two topical fluoride applications are also covered in a consecutive 12-month period at no cost, when a network dentist is seen. MetLife TRICARE Dental Plan additionally covers orthodontics for children up to the age of 21 (up to 23 years old, if a full-time student) with a 50% cost share and a $1,750 Lifetime Maximum Benefit per enrollee. As the mother of 3 mouths of teeth that required braces, let me tell you that the MetLife TRICARE Dental Program was a life saver for us. Another benefit that this mother of 3 active mouths of teeth appreciates, is that one athletic mouth guard per consecutive 12-month period, with a 50% cost share, is covered. Whew! Now we can protect those teeth we paid to straighten and look so pretty.
You can learn about more covered benefits at the MetLife TRICARE Dental Program website or by following them on Facebook or Twitter.

I’m so glad you wrote about this. A good friend is a commander in the Marines and I’m going to chat with him to see what I can do to make a difference with his guys that are deployed. I may have to make a bunch of the soda bottles you showed us a few weeks ago!

That’s so thoughtful of you, Monica. It really means a lot to the troops to know that people they don’t even know care enough to send them something. Happy holidays.

My Father was also a Vietnam Vet. It is so important to remember to thank those who give up so much for our country. I don’t think we do it enough. My Mother has Tri-Care and I will check with her to see if she has the Dental care.

So glad to hear there’s a whole month, not just day, dedicated to honoring the military who serve and protect us all. What a great way to show gratitude especially during the holidays when many of our soldiers will be away from their families.
