Last week I showed you how I made 10 upcycled fabric gift bags for $1 from a repurposed thrifted table cloth. Today I want to show you what I made with the bed skirt that I found on the same day I found the tablecloth.
I found this white bed skirt at the thrift store when I found the red table cloth that I used to make upcycled gift bags. The bed skirt was only $1 and has a pretty cut-out edge that I thought would be a nice accent on a fabric gift bag.
I measured the circumference of a box I got at Costco.
I measured and cut the fabric and then sewed the bag using the directions I shared last week. It took me less than 10 minutes to make the gift bag.
Instead of attaching ribbon to close the top of the bag, I used a rubber band to gather the top of the bag and form a rosette.
Voila!
A lovely upcycled fabric gift bag for a dollar. And I still have 3 more edges of the bed skirt to upcycle and feature that cut-out edge in more gift bags ( I have a couple of ideas that I’ll be showing you soon).

If we’ve ever been in the same room together in the winter, you’ve heard me complain about being cold. I’m always cold in the winter and I. don’t. like. it. I really, really don’t like going to bed at night in the winter and sliding my feet down to the bottom of the freezing cold bed. …

Don’t remember what the occasion was when my kids got Mentos gum. But I do remember being intrigued by the cute little plastic containers. I kept the containers so I could figure out a way to repurpose them. The label was so easy to remove that I just knew each container was destined to…
I enjoy giving homemade baked good to neighbors and friends as gifts this time of year. I’m always looking for cute ways to gift wrap the treats. Well, you know me, gift packaging is just an opportunity for an easy upcycled project using repurposed packaging. This time I decided to use Mod Podge…
