Just last weekend I was able to go visit my “baby” at college. It was an unexpected trip thanks to my friend, M., for twisting my arm and making me go on a girls’ road trip adventure. I’d thought I wouldn’t see my baby until Thanksgiving. That would have been thirteen and a half long weeks. Since M. and I were traveling 6 1/2 hours by car, I thought I’d pack road trip snacks to go for 2 traveling mammas, and I knew exactly what types of snacks I wanted to pack.
You may remember when I shared my Dream Vacation with you. Between vacations and 20+ moves, my family has taken quite a few road trips. When ever my family travels in the car, I always pack a bag full of snacks and a cooler of drinks.
Packing your own snacks is great for 6 reasons.
You can choose exactly the food and drinks you take with you. This allows you to accommodate diet or health restrictions.
You can choose food that is appropriate for eating in the car and for the ages of your family members.
It helps you save money not purchasing convenience foods along the way.
It helps you save time since you can either eat at a rest stop or even snack in the car (the driver should always concentrate on driving and wait to eat until the next stop).
You can stop and eat when you want, not just when you can find a restaurant.
You can eat when you want.
I choose snacks that
can be brushed up easily (like crackers and pretzels) and are not too messy.
are not junk food.
have protein.
are clear liquids for drinks.
As I was shopping for the snacks for our road trip, I was happy to be able to include Jif To Go® Dippers. Jif To Go Dippers come in 2 flavors; Creamy Peanut Butter with Pretzels and Chocolate Silk with Pretzels. They are so convenient for a busy family to grab and go, no matter how long the trip.
I like that the bottom container with the dip can fit into the top with the pretzels and the entire package fits neatly into a cup holder in the car. Being able to set the snack container in the cup holder is great for mammas on a road trip and would be perfect for families traveling or running around town.
I’ve always been a big peanut butter fan, so it’s easy to understand why the Creamy Peanut Butter was my favorite. The pretzels are the right combination of salty and crunchy to go with the peanut butter. My friend, M., is a fan of the Chocolate Silk. It’s a blend of chocolate with a subtle peanut butter taste. My favorite thing about them both is how portable they are.
Thanks to a pleasant and quick snack at a rest stop, I got to my daughter’s college as quickly as we could. I was able to spend a wonderful weekend with my baby.

My girls used to look forward to trip snacks so much they didn’t want to eat breakfast before we left on our trips. Peanut butter is a wonderful snack. Thanks for linking up for Scraptastic Saturdays. This post will be shared via FB/Twitter/Pinterest. Have a wonderful day. Hope to see you Saturday.
