I think it all started with my Oreo Surprise Cookies, but my friend, Corinne at Wondermom Wannabe, and I have a running competition challenge to come up with new cookies with a surprise inside.  Last week Corinne, tagged me after she made Snickers Surprise Cookies, so here is my newest easy and yummy cookie,  Rolo Pretzel  Surprise Cookies.  This one is a little different in that it adds that sweet salty twist that can be so addictive to the surprise cookie genre.

There’s something about these cookies with a surprise inside that are just so much fun.  And even better, they’re super easy to make.

You can use any basic chocolate chip cookie dough recipe, but I always use my husband’s Aunt Barb’s recipe.  Mix up a batch of dough.

Stack a Rolo on top of a pretzel and wrap the cookie dough around it.

  1. Yet another great cookie recipe! I am sure that your kids are super excited to have you in this friendly competition! I love the sweet and salty combination and I know these would be perfect. Too bad I am on a diet!

  2. Hi Susan – No diet for me… I’m in the middle of making chocolate for a small army right now. As a Pennsylvania girl, I must commend you for the sweet and salty combo of the chocolate and pretzel. Where I used to live, the big thing was to put a large pretzel rod in a dish of ice cream. Oh yeah… and I’m laughing hysterically at the little competition you and Corinne at Wonder Mom Wannabe have going on – so much fun to watch the two of you try and out-cookie surprise each other! Hugs, Holly

  3. AHHHHHH I missed my witty humor window. I’m not laughing hysterically at your competition… I’m ROLLOING in laughter. Tee hee!

  4. Ah, I see I am tagged again. I shall answer this challenge (my next recipe includes my all-time favorite candy!). After this let’s tackle another genre though. My family threw in a vote for brownies. 😉

  5. Love this idea! My favorite desserts are sweet and salty combinations, so I know that these would be delicious. Thanks for sharing!
