Upcycled Comic Book Can - Organized 31

Remember when I upcycled the clementine crate with comic book pages?  My son and I had so much fun with that diy project that we kept going.  Fortunately, I had the perfect metal can to repurpose.  In about 15 minutes (plus 20 minutes drying time) we created a super cool upcycled comic book can perfect for storage or…. you’ll see in a minute.

I can’t tell you how easy and quick this project is.  I think that’s why my son and I found it so fun to do.  It’s craft  almost-immediate-ratification and it’s so cool.

supplies

Start by collecting any can or container to repurpose.  Grab some old comic books to cut up.  (If you don’t have any of your own that you’re willing to cut up, try your local used comic book store.  They will often sell you the beat up copies for a great discount.)  Grab a paper-cutter or scissors, Mod Podge and a brush.

layout

Cut your comic book into the panels that you want to use and lay them out on the can to plan the look you want.   Once you have all the panels planned for the look you want,  use the Mod Podge to glue the comic panels down onto the can or container.  The metal can we used had ridges so we were careful to take the time to smooth the comic book paper carefully onto the can.  Once you have the entire can or container covered with comic book panels be sure to seal all the paper with a top coat of Mod Podge.  Since the comic book paper is so delicate, you’ll want to make sure you seal it down well.

Allow the can to dry 20-30 minutes and pow! (sorry, had to do it)
