A big reason the holidays are such a special time for me is that we host friends and family at our home from November through January. Some stay for a few hours, some stay overnight, some stay for a couple of days and some stay for a couple of weeks. I love having guests. It’s important to me that my guests feel welcome in our home. Here are some easy tips to prepare for holiday guests that I use.
I plan ahead to make my guests feel comfortable in our home. One of the more awkward guest moments can be when they need to use the powder room. I use the following tips to help minimize that awkward moment.
Set out several hand towels. It’s gross when you go to the guest room after other guests and the hand towel is soaking wet. I set out several guest towels or use disposable guest towels.
Fill the soap dispenser or put a fresh bar of soap out. It can be very awkward if you need to wash your hands as a guest and the soap is out. Who wants to walk out of the bathroom and have to announce that you haven’t yet washed your hands because there is no soap?
Place extra roll(s) of toilet tissue out where your guests can find them. If the toilet tissue runs out, it’s uncomfortable for your guests to have to look through your bathroom trying to find another roll. And it’s even more awkward if there isn’t an extra roll there.
Watch as I share my secret to hiding the extra toilet tissue roll in plain sight.
Choose toilet tissue that will ensure your plumbing stays clog-free. Having had one of my children (who shall remain nameless) clog and overflow a toilet when we were guests, I can tell you that it is incredibly awkward for both the guest and the host. (Thankfully, the hosts were and still are dear friends!)
My family is extremely picky when it comes to toilet tissue. Charmin is the only one that makes all 5 of us happy. Fortunately, Charmin has Roto-Rooter’s stamp of approval to be clog-free and septic-safe. Charmin and Roto-Rooter, America’s largest provider of plumbing and drain service, have teamed up again this year to remind consumers of the clog-free and septic-safe guarantee that only comes with Charmin. You can learn more on the Charmin website and by following them on Facebook or Twitter.
What do you do to prepare for your guests to make them feel comfortable at your home? I have guests arriving in just a couple of days. I’m off to use these easy tips to prepare for holiday guests right now. (I’m so excited!)

Great tips and love that you hide the paper in plain site. When I visit someone’s house, I don’t feel comfortable asking where more toilet tissue is! Great video!
I only use Charmin. When it comes to TP, I want nothing but the best.
Love that idea. I don’t usually use Charmin though but I will use your idea in our guest bathroom. 🙂

If the guests are staying for > 7 days, I ask what their favorite TV programs are & add them to my DVR, just in case they want to take time out and catch up with their favorite show.
