This project will only take you 15 minutes at most and requires beginner’s sewing skills.

I placed the wine bottle on the sweater sleeve to measure the length of the bag. Since I wanted to fold down the cuff of the sleeve, I factored that into my eyeballed measurement. I cut the sleeve after adding about 1/2 inch for the bottom seam.

I turned the cut sleeve inside out.

The sleeves on this sweater were tapered, with a big difference in the width of the cuff area and the upper arm area. I simply sewed a straight line down from the cuff to the other end and then sewed across the cut side of the sleeve. I sewed the seam twice to reinforce it on the stretchy sweater fabric.

Then I cut off the excess tapered area of the sweater sleeve.

I turned the sweater sleeve right side out and slipped the wine bottle into the new gift bag. After folding the cuff down,  I added ribbon with a quick square knot.

Two handmade gift bags in just 15 minutes. Really! They’re just so charming. I really adore these cozy gift bags. Do you have 15 minutes? Then you have time to make this upcycled sweater projects wine gift bag today.
