Maintenance Tips for Pool Noodles
Proper cleaning and drying pool floats and toys. after every use will keep them fresh so that everyone wants to use them through out the summer. It also prolong the lifespan of your pool toys.
Rinse well with fresh, not pool water, after every use and allow them to dry thoroughly so that mildew doesn’t grow.
Inspect toys and equipment frequently for cracks, tears or holes that can harbor moisture and encourage the growth of bacteria, mildew or mold.
To clean:
- Use a solution of warm water and mid dish soap.
- Use a cloth or sponge to gently scrub the surface and remove any dirt, mildew or algae buildup on the surface or in crevices.
- For stubborn buildup, you can use a paste of baking soda and water to create a gentle abrasive cleanser.
- Rinse the toy’s surfaces well to remove any soap or other residue.
To Dry:
- Stand the noodles on end vertically so that all water will drain off the exterior and interior.
- You can lean them vertically against a wall or stand to facilitate the drying process.
- Make sure that air can circulate around and through the noodle.
- Drying in direct sunlight can speed the process.
- Always make sure that equipment is throughly dry before storage to prevent the growth of mildew or mold.
UV Protection
While pool noodles are made to be used in the sun, proper storage and protection from prolonged UV exposure can maintain the quality and extend the lifespan of them.
Once the noodles are completely dry, store them out of direct sunlight, if possible.
Don’t leave the toys stored directly on concrete or other highly reflective surface. This can accelerate damage by reflecting heat onto the toys.
Store the toys out of the elements during the off season.
