There are 2 things my family loves this time of year; hot wings and watching the big game. My children were born loving hot wings.  At age two, my youngest daughter kept begging to taste my plate of hot wings.  I tried to distract her with other food and protect her and my hot wings, but she absolutely would not be distracted.  I cautiously let her try a small taste, thinking that the spiciness would deter her.  Boy, was I wrong!  My entire family loves hot wings and always have.  We like to homegate for the big game.  We invite some good friends over that don’t like spicy food as much as we do.  I always make sure I have hot wings with cheesy cool dip at our homegating party so that my family and friends can all enjoy the food and the game.

Since I wanted to pick up a fun table cloth for the party and a few other household items, I popped over to Walmart where I could find up all the ingredients I needed along with the rest of my shopping list.  I picked up Tyson wings in the Deli.  They had Boneless General Tso’s wings, Bone-in Hot Wings, and Buffalo wings.  I brought home the Hot Wings and Buffalo Wings.

I also picked up the ingredients for the Cheesy Cool Dip:

8 oz. Cream Cheese

8 oz. Ranch Dressing

bag of fried chicken, bowl of chicken and clear bowl with cheese

8 oz.  Shredded Cheddar & Monterey Jack Cheese, reserve 1/4 cup for garnishing

Mix the cream cheese, ranch dressing and shredded cheese together in a bowl.  Microwave in 30 second increments, stirring well between heating, until the cheese is melted. Place the dip in the fridge until ready to serve.

While the cheese dip is chilling, I made place cards so that my family and friends could choose exactly which wings they wanted.

Once my friends arrived, I simply garnished the dip with about 1/4 cup shredded cheese and some chopped tomatoes.

And with about 5 total minutes of prep time, we had a homegating party worthy of the big game.

The great thing about Cheesy Cool Dip is that you can use it to tone down hot wings or Buffalo wings if they’re too spicy (my spicy adverse friends appreciate it).  It’s perfect with crackers or chips, too. If you need another appetizer to serve at your party, you should try Fried Okra.

Now that you’re ready for your homegating party with Hot Wings and Cheesy Cool Dip, which team will you be rooting for?

  1. Hot wings are a hit in my family too and they are a staple at our game day parties. Usually we serve ours with plain ranch or blue cheese dressing. I’ll have to give your dip a try. Thanks for the recipe!
