With my second “baby” heading off to college next month, we’re spending lots of time together as a family having fun and making memories. Nothing says family fun like a trip to an amusement park. Anytime is a great time to head to Kings Dominion, but this month is the second annual KidsFEST at Kings Dominion and it’s fun for kids of all ages.

We were passing through Richmond, Virginia and decided to join in the celebration and create some special family memories. #KDFirstTimerNone of my family members are a fan of scary rides, but we are huge Peanuts and Snoopy fans. We were all excited about visiting Planet Snoopy at Kings Dominion and seeing what fun we could find at KidsFEST.

My husband has been a long-time Peanuts fan (a really lo-oooong time fan!). He’s passed his love of all things Peanuts and Snoopy on to the rest of the family. We had a great time finding all our favorite Peanuts characters and having our photos taken.

The staff are great and will take your family photo with the characters for you and the characters are great with kids.

As part of KidsFEST, there were all kinds of fun activities targeted to children. You could play games with Peanuts characters, watch a sand sculpture of Snoopy being created all day long and climb on a real fire truck, to name just a few.

As part of the KidsFEST celebration, there are also featured concerts with kid-favorite performers. We were able to catch the Imagination Movers at the concert, which was a big hit with the kids. Next weekend the featured performance is Choo Choo Soul (love the hats!)

There were plenty of fun rides for younger kids and older kids that prefer fun to heart-stopping rides.

We had plenty of laughs driving the Model T car together as a family. My youngest “baby” was the driver and had the benefit of lots of advice. Nah, he was a great driver!

If you prefer the heart-stopping rides, check this one out.

Kings Dominion has rides for every ages and every thrill level.

We enjoyed a delicious lunch. Without a doubt, this was the best amusement park food I’ve ever had (and I’ve been to parks in 7 states and one foreign country). The wraps were very fresh and the chicken nuggets were addictive. My entire family gave the food two thumbs up (and we’re tough graders).

Since we visited Kings Dominion in July, I was thrilled to find a family dryer – great for drying off after the water rides or on a hot sweaty day Brilliant!

As we were driving home after our visit, everyone kept talking about our next trip to Kings Dominion. That’s a high compliment – to be planning the next visit as you’re heading home.

  1. Just good old-fashioned fun! My “baby” (who just finished her first year of college) and I spent a day at a local amusement park. It is small, with both rides and a water park area, and we had a blast. So glad we made those memories and were just goofy for a day!

  2. We are less than a couple hour drive away from KD but have not been there in years. We have the Grandchildren this weekend and that would be an awesome road trip. I’m going to text them now & see if they would like to go!

    1. I know that you and your grandchildren will thoroughly enjoy KidsFEST, Monica. Be sure to tell Linus hi for me.
