If you’re like me and my friend, J., at some point you’ve stood holding an empty candle jar in your hand wondering what you could do with it instead of throwing it away.  My friend J. and I had been talking about ways to recycle those candle jars when coincidentally my son asked if we could make a terrarium. It was just too easy.  I just had to use the repurposed candle jar for the terrarium project with my son.Repurposed candle jar - Organized 31

If your jar has wax remaining in it, simply put it in the freezer for a while and then you’ll be able to use a butter knife to remove the wax easily.  Wash the jar well and let it dry.

We collected some gravel from outside, added some soil and a couple of succulents that we picked up at the home improvement store.Repurposed candle jar - Organized 31

The succulents are perfect because they’re small enough to fit in the jar and  hardy enough to stand up to a child caretaker.Repurposed candle jar - Organized 31

This was a fun and easy (and quick) project to do with my son one afternoon. It’s been several months and he’s still enjoying caring for his plants.

What uses do you have for a repurposed candle jar?
