Sharing is caring!

Last year my second “baby” was away for a month attending a language immersion camp. She was gone over the 4th of July. If you’re a friend of Organized 31, you know how much I live for sending care packages, so of course, I had to send my baby a 4th of July care package. I created these DIY 4th of July favors for the care package. I sent one for my baby and one for her to share with her roommate. (Yes, I do what I can to bribe my babies’ roommates with treats.)Make these DIY 4th of July favors in minutes and for less than a dollar. I made these two 4th of July favors in less than 10 minutes and for less than $1 each. These favors would be easy to make in bulk as party favors for your 4th of July party or get-together. They’re also perfect for sending in care packages for deployed service members. And they’re easy enough to make that you could make them as a kids’ craft activity.

Supplies

Square or rectangular pack of gum or candy – I prefer gum since it won’t melt in the hot July temps. Look for a flat package to make it easier to wrap your paper around it.

White card stock paper

Red ink pad

Blue ink pad

Make-up sponge – You could use a regular sponge, but there would be more texture in the application of the ink on the paper. I prefer the smoother application that you get from a make-up sponge.

White ink pad – You could use a white marker to create the star if you’d prefer and skip the white ink pad and star stamp.

Star rubber stamp

Measure the width of your gum pack. Cut the card stock that wide and long enough to wrap around the gum pack, with enough overlap to tape together. Crease the paper with your finger at each corner of the package. Make these DIY 4th of July favors in minutes and for less than a dollar. Use masking tape to cover the upper left area that is the blue and white star area of your flag.  Use the make-up sponge to create red stripes on the front of the wrapper. Wait a minute or two for the ink to completely dry. Use the other end of the make-up sponge and blue ink to make the blue background and then add a white star. Make these DIY 4th of July favors in minutes and for less than a dollar. Tape the flag paper wrapper around the gum pack. The gum can easily be slipped out of the wrapper. Make these DIY 4th of July favors in minutes and for less than a dollar. These party favors are perfect for any patriotic party or get together.

Aren’t these 4th of July favors adorable? I’m charmed by the simple rustic look of the flag. My baby and her roommate loved that they got cute candy in the 4th of July care package I sent them. Make these DIY 4th of July favors in minutes and for less than a dollar.
