I love pumpkin flavor, but I’m a picky pumpkin flavor fan and this easy pumpkin butter recipe gets my vote. Pumpkin flavored recipes have to be the very best to meet my tough standards. I first made this easy pumpkin butter recipe over twenty years ago and it was love at first spoonful. Trust me, I’m a tough grader. Knowing that, I can tell you that I give this apple pumpkin butter recipe an A+++.  And as a bonus, it’s easy to make (but we don’t have to tell anyone that!).

I have a confession. I don’t like fall. To be accurate, I would like fall just fine if it didn’t mean that winter is right around the corner. So while I dread the cooler weather every fall, I do get excited about all the amazing pumpkin recipes that can raise my spirits. Pumpkin flavored recipes are the ultimate comfort food for me this time of year and pumpkin butter is at the top of my list.

Benefits of Pumpkin

  • High in vitamin A, which is good for your eyesight
  • High in carotenoids and beta-carotene, which are also good for your eyes
  • High in beta-carotene, which may help prevent cancer
  • High in vitamin C, which can help boost your immune system
  • High in fiber, which is good for digestion and to help you feel full

Pumpkin butter is perfect for breakfast or as a snack. I often eat it for both breakfast and an afternoon snack in the same day. It tastes great on:

Or you can enjoy it by the spoonful like I do. I won’t tell on you.

The recipe for pumpkin butter is easy to make, but it does take 1 1/2 hours to simmer, so you need to plan time to make it. I often put this pumpkin butter recipe on the stove to cook when I’m doing other chores in the kitchen so that I can stir it often (and not forget to keep stirring it). While it does take a bit of time for all the flavors to simmer together, it is well worth the wait.

  1. I had no idea pumpkin butter isn’t even made with butter! It sounds pretty good and not too hard to make. I like that it’s really low fat.
