It’s graduation season and we have lots of family and friends traveling from out-of-state (some from 3 time zones away) to stay with us for my daughter’s graduation. I want to show our dear guests how much we appreciate all the effort they put into coming here to celebrate with us. They’ll be here for several days, and of course I’ll be feeding them lots, but I thought it would be nice to show our appreciation by making them a guest welcome gift with TWIX Bites.
It all started with my stash of empty jars just waiting to be repurposed and an old map. The map seemed perfect since all of our out-of-state guests are driving to come visit us.
Guest Welcome Gift
I had to run to Walmart to pick some things, so it was the perfect time to pick up the TWIX Bites that I wanted to use in the gift jars since we’re all big fans of TWIX. I also had to pick up a bag of SNICKERS Bites (since I’m a big fan of SNICKERS!)
Right now is the perfect time to stock up on TWIX, SNICKERS or your favorite Bites since you can use this coupon on Social Twist to receive $1.00 off two 2.83 oz. or larger bags OR $3.00 off two 6 oz. or larger bags.
You can also use this coupon to save $3.00 off any 2 MARS Brand Bites, TWIX®, 3 MUSKETEERS®, MILKY WAY® Simply Caramel, MILKY WAY® & SNICKERS®) 6 oz. or larger.
I want to save my original map for lots of other projects, so I simply scanned the map and printed it out on card stock. I scanned parts of the map that correspond to where each of my guests live (it’s a little detail that amuses me and hopefully will amuse our guests, too). I used double-stick tape to attach the map around the jar and a round circle of the map to cover the printing on the top of the lid. You could use decoupage glue, but double-stick was faster, so double-stick tape it was since I’m so busy with graduation preparations right now. Just be sure to use plenty of double-stick tape to securely fasten the paper around the jar (if you scrimp on tape, the paper will pop off in the middle of the night…ask me how I know).
I added coordinating colored card stock to make the circles on the lid pop and added washi tape to one of the jars to highlight the thin strip of map that I used. I used a basic word processing program to print out the welcome tags and attached them with twine. I chose retro font and colors for the tag (what is it about maps that make think 1950’s and Route 66?) and I think they go charmingly with the map.
Oh, and the most important step is to fill your jar with delicious TWIX Bites to create an on-the-go snack gift (and if you’re like me, you’ll have to sample
a bunch a couple of the Bites).
As I was opening the bags of Bites, I realized that it would be easy to decorate the TWIX Bites bag itself. I simply cut a piece of coordinating card stock 6 1/2 inches wide and 3 1/3 inches tall. I folded the card stock with approximately 1 inch to fold over the back of the bag. I stapled the card stock to the top of the bag and then added a strip of map to cover the staples using double-stick tape. Finally, I added the welcome tag. It took me about 5 minutes total (including scanning the map) to make the guest welcome gift using the TWIX Bites bag.
I’ll give the jar guest gifts to the guests staying with us at our house and the TWIX Bites bag gifts to the guests staying in the hotel (the bags are so perfectly portable).
These guest welcome gifts make a sweet (pun intended) gift to show our appreciation to our dear friends and family. They took 5-10 minutes each to make and used basic items that you may already have around the house. They’re easy enough to make that you can have your kiddos help. How sweet (pun intended, again) to teach your kiddos to show their appreciation through a fun craft project. Have fun welcoming your next guests with your very own guest welcome gift.

Hi Susan – What a great idea, especially for travelers and guests coming from a distance. AND… I also noticed that all of the colors you used are your daughter’s graduation colors. I spy! Hugs, Holly
Akamai, you! (Hawaiian for smart for paying attention and catching that) 🙂
I think it is really sweet that you took the time to make your guest feel welcome. I think it these treats will make them feel very special.
What a deliciously creative idea! The TWIX Bites (and Snickers) are so addictive – I can’t imagine they lasted for long! #client
Thanks, Kelly. I’m addicted too, (that’s why I had to buy extras! 🙂
These are cute! I’m so into a map phase right now, love this idea!
Thanks, Mrs. B. I’m itching to do more map projects, too.
