The bags have this great texture to them (that just doesn’t show up in photos). And the graphics are simple, just the way I like them. You can tell how wrinkled the cream colored bag is that I’ve holding onto it for a while trying to figure out what to do with it. Then last month, the purple bag came home and motivated me to figure out a great repurposing for these 2 bags. About this time, we went on vacation and I had to use plastic shopping bags to cover our shoes when packing out suitcases. I kept thinking how much I’d like to have cloth shoe bags, but there’s no way I was going buy a bag that’s only purpose is to contain dirt.
So, hmm…. How about turning these into shoe bags for a future vacation.
Step one – cut off the handles and cut the bag in half vertically.
Step two – sew up the open vertical seam.
Step three – insert shoes, sit back and smile.
Super easy. Super quick. Super hip (that’s me!). Super satisfying.

I’m a huge fan of repurposing and upcycling. In other words, I hate to throw anything away and I’m a bit of a tree hugger. I love to look at food packaging that would otherwise be recycled and figure out a way to repurpose it. Get Your Free List of 40 Items to Repurpose and…
If you’ve hung around Organized 31 much, you know that almost every craft and organizing project I do starts with a recycled item. I’ll psychoanalyze myself another time and tell you why that is, but let’s just accept that fact that I like to repurpose items. Often I start with an item that I already have, but…

It’s almost gift wrapping season. My mom and mother-in-law both wrap beautiful gifts, but unfortunately I didn’t get the gift wrapping gene. I’ve learned some tricks to compensate for my lack of gift wrapping skills. One of my favorite new gift wrapping tricks is to use magazine flower bows. This is a great project to…
