A neighborhood scavenger hunt for kids is a great idea for families or as a group activity. It’s a great way to get out of the house as a family and play alone during times of physical distancing.
This free neighborhood scavenger hunt has four different games boards and can be downloaded and printed immediately. That means you can start having fun right away.
This neighborhood walk scavenger hunt is designed to work both for city and suburb neighborhoods. You should look over the game boards and see if they work with your neighborhood.
If all the items on the game boards are not available in your immediate neighborhood, you can play the game over several days. Simply drive to a different neighborhood, take a walk and continue to look for the missing items on your lists.
Neighborhood Scavenger Hunt for Kids
I created this neighborhood scavenger hunt with pictures so that children of all ages and reading levels can play. This makes the game perfect for younger children up through tweens, and even teens.

How to Print the Neighborhood Scavenger Hunt
To get the free Neighborhood Scavenger Hunt printable, simply sign up for our free exclusive content below. You’ll receive immediate access to printable scavenger hunt pdf and will have access to all exclusive content on Organized 31.
You can then print the scavenger hunt pdf as many times as you’d like for your personal use.
You can print the game boards out on computer paper or use my preferred choice – card stock paper. Card stock paper is thicker and holds up better during an excited scavenger hunt.
You can also choose to laminate the game boards so that you can use them over and over again. This works especially well if you’ll be using this neighborhood scavenger hunt for kids as part of curriculum or children’s group activity.
My family has always enjoyed scavenger hunts. I’ve created several additional outdoor scavenger hunts that are just as much fun as this one:
- Fall Scavenger Hunt
- Nature Scavenger Hunt in the Summer
- Camping Scavenger Hunt
- Backyard Scavenger Hunt
If you’re looking for an indoor activity for children, there are indoor scavenger hunt games, too.
How to Play the Neighborhood Scavenger Hunt for Kids
You can have children hunt for the items on the Neighborhood Scavenger Hunt for Kids individually or in groups. By having a younger child play with an adult or older child it’s possible for children of all ages to play the scavenger hunt.
The children can look for all the items on the card or play the scavenger hunt like bingo by finding items in a column or row.
You can also play for a set time period and the person that finds the most items on their game card wins.
I told you that we really enjoy scavenger hunts, so I also created game boards for many holidays.

Most printers offer you the option to print in greyscale which is in black and white.
